農村巧藝 - 麻藝染織簡介 麻芛為田麻科屬一年生草木植物盛產地在臺中南屯，所以甜麻在臺中地區成為特有農作物及地方特有美食，其植物特性為蟲害少，無噴農藥為營養豐富之健康作物。暑月中部地區的麻芛湯就出現於飲食中，固有於夏季不喝麻芛湯容易中暑之說，可見麻芛在臺中南屯飲食生活佔一席之地。 麻芛成長的初期到中期可作為食用，晚期則不具食用價值，可提供工藝材料使用，以麻芛做植物染色早期色淡偏黃、晚期則色濃偏紅，複染其他植物染料又可得多種色彩變化，圖文花樣風味倍增，並將植物染的布料結合天然纖維平地編織技術，缝制成提袋、手帕、書套等生活實用文創商品。
Agricultural arts and crafts—Dying and weaving with jute White jute is an annual plant grown widely in Taichung's Nantun District, making sweet jute a specialty of Taichung. The nutritious plant has few pests and does not require any pesticides to grow. Jute soup is popular during summer months in Taichung, giving rise to the popular saying that drinking jute soup will help prevent heat stroke, proof of its importance in the lives and diets of the residents of Taichung. White jute can be eaten during infancy and while maturing, but not if it gets too old; however, it can be used for arts. Young jute, when used as a dye, produces a faint yellow color, but mature jute creates a deep red; mixing it with other vegetable dyes can result in various hues. Dyed natural fiber fabrics can be woven into bags, handkerchiefs, book covers, or other useful items.
農村工芸 – 麻染織物 麻芛とはシナノキ科の一年草で臺中南屯が原産地です。その為臺中で有名な農作物、ご当地グルメになりました。この植物は害虫被害が少ない為、無農薬栽培で栄養豊富で健康にいい作物になります。暑い季節、台湾中部では麻芛スープが出回り、夏麻芛スープを飲まないと夏バテになりやすいといわれ、麻芛は臺中南屯の食文化に欠かせないものです。
麻芛は初期から中期の成長過程では食用に適していて、後期は食用に適していない為、工芸材料として使われます。麻芛の染色は初期は淡黄色、後期は濃紅色でその他の植物染料との複数染によって多種多様に色彩変化します。そして花模様が増え、更に草木染の布と天然繊維の平織技術の融合によって、袋やハンカチ、ブックカバー等実用的な文芸品を制作することできました。
